General

Who should use KG Test & Train?

KG Test & Train was designed for professional users with expert knowledge of automotive electric and electronic systems. KG Test & Train must not be used by inexperienced users without prior knowledge of advanced automotive electronics.

Where should KG Test & Train be used?

KG Test & Train was designed for training contexts and is meant to be used in a protected, stationary environment. KG Test & Train must not be used on public roads or in open traffic.

Does KG Test & Train only work on new vehicles?

No. KG Test & Train is a universal technology that is also compatible with older-generation vehicles. KG Test& Train is connected to the vehicle’s ECUs (electronic control units). The first ECU-equipped vehicles were rolled out in the 1970s. Thus any vehicle produced after 1975 is compatible with KG Test & Train.

Does KG Test & Train also work on electric vehicles?

Yes, KG Test & Train can also be used on EVs. However, the solution should only be used on the EVs low-voltage systems. KG Test & Train was not designed to be used on an EVs high-voltage systems or battery circuits. Please contact our team for more information about how to use KG Test&Train on EVs.

KG Box

Does using the KG Box affect manufacturer’s warranty?

No. Using the KG Box does not have any negative impact on manufacturer’s warranty. The faults simulated by the KG Box are temporary and do not leave any lasting damage on the vehicle. KG Test & Train is a non-invasive system: it uses original connectors and existing interfaces and does not require any wires to be severed or parts to be implemented.

Does the KG Box work without internet connection?

Yes. While KG Test & Train delivers the best user experience with a stable wifi connection, the platform is also functional during internet outages or in locations where there is simply no internet connection available. In these situations, users can enter commands locally, through the on-board touch screen on the KG Box in order to activate or deactivate fault simulations.

Does the KG Box require access to the software of the vehicle (e.g. CAN bus)?

No. The KG Box does not require access to the vehicle’s software. Our simulations do not manipulate the vehicles code base, nor require access to communication protocols.

How does KG Test & Train adapt to different types of vehicles?

Since we don’t access any of the vehicle’s software, KG Test & Train requires minimal customisation for different contexts. Setting up KG Test & Train for a new brand or model only requires switching connectors which can differ from brand to brand.

Does the KG Box need to remain connected to the vehicle during the simulation?

Yes. In order to keep the simulation active and running, connection between the KG Box and the vehicle is required. Once the KG Box is disconnected, the simulation will no longer be active.
